Hi, I found this entry while searching the web. I read that you received some D's your first year, but continued on to graduate with B's. Were you placed on academic probation? My school has a minimum GPA requirement; I just found out I will be getting a D in one of my first semester courses; and I'm worried my other exam grades will be just as bad. Do you think I should drop out? I don't know if my GPA will be reparable to get over the minimum GPA. Thanks. Any response would be appreciated.

Nina, thanks for your comment, glad you like Flyleaf too.

I don't want to contradict you--but first off, I am not a fan of the Oprah-esque distinction between being "spiritual" and "religious". I won't go any further than to say that a simple search of a dictionary should clarify the proper use of either word, as well as their fundamental interconnectedness.

Secondly, as for Lacey Mosley (the "girl"), I suppose that a safe answer is that only God knows where her heart is, but she has appeared on a number of "Christian" albums (including David Crowder's recently released Church Music, as well as a song called "Born Again" with Third Day). That may be a good clue that she is probably beyond just thinking about life from a soft-and-fuzzy psuedo-spiritual perspective, and that she has an organized set of beliefs about who she is and who God is (i.e., "religion"). You can read more about Lacey Mosley at her online bio at http://laceymosley.com/.

Thanks again for the comment, keep listening to Flyleaf! :)

i freaking love flyleaf...but they are not christian music...the girl ( maybe even the whole band ) is in recovery (as in from drugs/alcohol) so that is what the music about. that is why God is mentioned. not in the religious way - but in a spiritual manner - there is a difference. thanks. beautiful voice. powerful lyrics.. my favorite band. another band in recovery is three days grace.

UPDATE: So I seem to have let more than "a day or so" go by since posting this. Hehe. At any rate, the MuteMath concert was good, Cori and I had a lot of fun. We both took the smart way (or wimpy way) and wore earplugs during the show, since we were only a few feet away from the stage. Actually, for anyone who's never tried earplugs at a small concert, they make it easier to hear the music without all the extreme bass and reverb you usually get at live shows.

As with most MuteMath shows, there was plenty of hi-jinks from the band members--including the drummer taking one of his toms into the crowd and doing, getting folks to hold it above their heads, and then him literally standing on the crowd. Very entertaining, to say the least.

I definitely recommend MuteMath to anyone, and you should check out their live show anytime you get the chance (even if you have to wear earplugs to do it).

Jethro, I'm not sure if I'm missing your point, or if you're missing mine...

My wife says your point is that all the women pictured (including the Barbie doll) are sufficiently similar to be lumped together, while Greta Van Susteren is the stand out because she is maybe not as pretty.

But, just to be clear, that's NOT what my point is with this post; and Greta does "belong" because she fits the general Barbie-esque description of being a blond (arguably) attractive female.

I don't think this is the tail wagging anything--I think that, first off, Barbie was a blond long before most of these women were employed by Fox or any other news outlet. Secondly, my point is not that these women literally look like Barbie--just that Fox employs a lot of blond attractive women who can jokingly be referred to as "Barbies".

Any post with this many pictures, and so little formal exposition is obviously open to a bit of interpretation, but please don't take this post too seriously folks.

I think you're arguing the tail wagging the dog. Mattel has always styled Barbie according to the latest fashion trends - the original 1959 Barbie's hair was styled after Lucille Ball's, y'know. Every year they update the doll with the latest fashions and hairstyles.

Female news anchors tend to lead the pack rather than follow, fashion-wise. So it's more that Barbie looks like THEM than the other way around.

Despite the spam-like quality of this response, I will reply. Yes, I do own a Wii (though I haven't played it for over a year, since Smash Bros. came out); I love Xbox Live (streaming Netflix, video downloads, arcade titles and games on demand, multiplayer for Call of Duty and Halo...); and I think Natal will be cool to see in action--hopefully it's not just a gimmick that dies, but something that developers fully utilize to create a more fully interactive entertainment experience.

Nice article. I own a Wii and I think this is a little bit biased, but true overall.*Sigh* Too bad Microsoft games are exclusive to the Xbox 360. I'm looking forward to the natal for 360. Hope you are too! -What do you think about onLive? Hope you write about it.
If you don't own a Wii you shouldn't really be giving advice to this person...should you?

the surf at joss bay can get quite choppy, so it is quite hard to learn how to bodyboard or surf there. But there are some times where it can be glassy and easy. If you want a day like that for learning it's best if you go on a strong N or NW. NE and E are very choppy so don't go then. But I guess the best learners wave is folkestone, but it's a very nasty place with lots of chavs. The best surf at joss for tides is 2 hours before high tide. Joss bay is quite friendly. The surf crew there are nice at they have surf lessons too.

Hi Pete the surfer

I come from Cornwall but now live in Suffolk and have always assumed there wasn't much surf in the SE. Notice you come from Joss Bay, Kent, and wondered what that's like for Bodyboarding. I have been teaching my two (10 and 13) to bodyboard down in Polzeath and they love it so much I would like to find somewhere a bit nearer to home. What size swell and state of the tide is best for some fun bodyboarding at Joss Bay. Any advive welcomed.

Cheers, Jules.
