Wii Fit and (Not) Exercising

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a fan of video games. And I’ve also talked about some of the issues I think about as a Christian gamer. But one of the other issues that stereotypically goes along with being a gaming junkie is a sedentary lifestyle.  One of the weight-loss/fitness “tools” being marketed to gamers and folks in general is Nintendo’s Wii Fit.  This game (if you can call it that) leads you through several exercises including pushups, situps, lunges, and running in place. It sounds like it could be useful, and I’ve heard it’s being utilized by some hospitals to aid in patients’ physical therapy.  That’s good I guess. But really, when you get down to it, is this really exercise?  Take a look at this little bit of satire, feel free to have a laugh, and let me know what you think.

    oh kyle, you’re so punny.

but i’ve tried this wii fit thing… i hate to say it, but like most wii games not named mario galaxy, the initial novelty wears off pretty quick.

I agree with you Peter, a lot of the Wii “games” are pretty gimicky, and unfortunately the novelty factor wears off pretty quickly.
As for the length of the video, I’m with you Kyle; but as funny as this spoof is, it’s just voice-over of an actual ad for Wii Fit. Can you imagine sitting through that entire ad…? You would literally be bored to death–and maybe even “board” to death. Ha. :)
